Maybe this little feathered dinosaur is one of the key links in oviraptorosaur evolution. It's also possible, that in the future it can be assigned to Paraves
I really like how fluffy it is; you made it clear that the feathers are not for flight.
If it was true it would certainly explain avimimus's close semblance to modern birds.
Avimimus is of course extremely birdlike, but don't be fooled by appearances, it's only a case of convergent evolution, phylogenetically it belongs to Oviraptorosauria, that (for now) are only a sister group to Paraves.
